STM Autofocus Motor
At the heart of the RF-S 7.8mm f/4 STM Dual VR lens is a gear-type stepping motor (STM) with a dual-lens autofocus system. This enables smooth, quiet, and synchronized autofocus for both lenses, making operation as easy as using a standard lens. Perfect for both photography and videography, the lens features an electronic focus/control ring and a left-right focus difference adjustment switch, allowing focus control on either both lenses or just the left lens. It's fully compatible with Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF system, and manual focus is also supported.

Design and Optics
The lens captures content in **Spatial**, **3D 180°**, and **3D** formats using a straight-path optical system, which includes two ultra-low dispersion elements to reduce chromatic aberrations. With nine elements in five groups, the lens is equipped with Canon's **Super Spectra Coating** to minimize ghosting and flare. The 58mm front filter thread allows for light modification, while the close focusing distance of 5.9 inches ensures sharpness in every shot.
